about

This song was originally recorded in New Jersy, when I took the chance on visiting New York and recording with 3 amazing artists I had met at a music conference in Los Angeles. I had no idea what I was getting into, all I knew was that since moving from LA back to Seattle, where I had had a good career as a model years before, the world was now seeming to open up for me. I was following my hearts calling. Immediately we started working all night in the studio and I wrote and recorded "Vagabonds" after getting the image of "I want to glitter like a disco ball.." in my head. It poured out almost like a country ballad. Our group dispelled unfortunately shortly after, but instead of me going back to Seattle and to my band there as I planned, I immediately decided to stay in New York. With no contacts except for one, only one suitcase, and just enough savings to get by, I restarted my life and never looked back. I truly lived the lyrics of Vagabonds, landing multiple modeling gigs and performing wherever I could, including the subways of Penn Station. In 2 weeks I had booked 3 fashion shows, found a music manager, booked 3 festivals, and moved into a tiny but affordable room in the Bronx. I finally get to rerecord this song as I first heard it, and now it's sparkling song of my journey I'm really happy with.

lyrics

Vagabonds
by Joy Villa

My heels are itching to hit the road
shake the stress off and just let go

I wanna glitter like a disco ball
let my light shine and just take off

My heart is pounding to just be free
bodies’ swaying like a Cali palm tree

Vagabonds
we keep on going
we keep on going
never slowing down

We Move Beyond
we make our own way
we make our own way
gypsies of yester day

gypsies of yester day

found my diamonds from a starlit sky
drank my destiny from your eyes

dust has settled and so have I
I heard my voice in a coyote cry

What if you never left?
what if your never gone?
what if you missed your chance?
how would you get along?

But you’ve got to live
all of the life you can

all of the life you can
